We have recently hired our Summer intern and one of our decorators, Olive, is leaving us to move with her husband to New Jersey:( Soooooo, we now have 2 positions available. Decorator:

  • Must have experience and be proficient in icing and decorating butter cream cakes
  • Must have experience decorating and designing wedding cakes (including; structure building, stacked cakes, rolled fondant, etc…)
  • Must be a team player and have patience….we all know we need patience to do this fun job!
  • Must have experience delivering wedding/stacked cakes as well as a vehicle to do so
  • Experience with air brushing, gum paste & sculpting  a PLUS!!

Intern:

  • Must have  a strong desire to work in the baking/wedding industry
  • Positive attitude and hard working spirit
  • This position will include learning the front of the bakery duties as well as assisting and learning to do the back of the house duties (ie; cake balls, cupcakes, icing cakes, etc…)

Postcards & Pretties, Anthropologie Inspired Shoot!

This past winter we did another shoot with the talented Southern Fried Paper, Bows & Arrows, NBarrett Photography & RSVP Event Design. We are all fans of Anthropologie and decided to use this as inspiration for a beautiful wedding shoot. Our shoot was picked up and posted on both Postcards & Pretties as well as 100layercake, check out the posts!

Kentucky Derby Cakes & Such!

A couple of months ago we were invited by Bows & Arrows to participate in a Kentucky Derby inspired shoot. While discussing the look and feel of the shoot wit Alicia we decided upon 5 individual cakes featuring sugar ribbons & flowers as well as butter cream accents. The Derby shoot was captured by the talented Greg Blomberg & styled by Cowboys & Indians. Our place cards and menus were designed by Missing Q Press and The Left Handed Calligrapher! We are now accepting applications for a part-time baker/decorator, 2 part-time shop assistants and a summer intern position. Please send applications and resumes to the following email address and include what position you are applying for in the subject line, info@sugarbeesweets.com. Please see a brief job description for each available position below.

Baker/decorator will assist with baking orders each week in addition to decorating and completing orders that are placed. Must have experience with both butter cream and fondant decorating and provide a portfolio of cakes/sweets you’ve done in the past.
Shop Assistants will work 3-4 shifts throughout the week and assist brides and customers that come in for appointments and to browse the wedding vendor studio. Must have a flexible schedule and experience in customer service.
Summer Intern will be working in the kitchen along side the owner, manager and lead decorator learning the wedding and specialty cake process from beginning to end.

    TWG 2nd Annual Platinum Cake Competition

    We are honored to be invited to the Texas Wedding Guide’s 2nd Annual Platinum Cake Competition on Tuesday, February 22nd at the Magnolia Hotel. There will be complimentary drinks, cake samples and celebrity judges! Mark your calendars and don’t forget to register if you would like to attend. As a guest of the competition you will be asked to vote for best cake design from the 10 bakeries participating in the competition! We hope to see you all there:)

    Bakery Assistant Internship

    Sugar Bee Sweets is now accepting applications and will be scheduling interviews for a spring/summer intern. This position offers a basic education of being a pastry chef and the ins and outs of the day to day bakery tasks. Requirements for this position include but are not limited to at least some knowledge of the wedding and specialty cake industry, a love for weddings and specialty events, as well as an outgoing and hard-working personality.     Its been a while since I’ve made a new post…so this is looooong overdue. A ton has been going on since my last post/photoshoot with Amy Barry and Nikki with Doodle Dog Advertising. I have recently quit my job and am now doing cakes full time. Sugar Bee Sweets has become a recommended vendor for The Wedding Party Studio and is being featured in the upcoming issue of The Brides of North Texas magazine in their Paper + Frosting spotlight with Art by Ellie. In addition to these fun, recent happenings there have been a ton of awesome projects lately.     last friday we did a photo shoot with nikki from doodle dog advertising and amy pittsinger from amy barry photography! i can’t express how truly talented these 2 ladies are! they made my cakes look like amazing and i can’t wait to add the pics to the site! if you are in need of a photographer for any occasion or advertising, branding or invitations these 2 are your go-to-gals!
